Bishop Andrew Ford II dies

Bishop Andrew Ford II, pastor of Ford Memorial Temple in the Nicetown section of Philadelphia, died on Friday, July 19, 2019. He was 66.

Ford II is known for leading the church’s award winning choir. The Anointed Voices have received many accolades from winning several choir competitions such as the McDonald’s and Verizon national choir competitions.

Ford II is survived by: his children Syretta, Chanelle and A.J. III; siblings Michele, Dolly and Steven.

Bishop Andrew Ford Sr. and Elrita Ford, started the church in 1953. At the time it was named Highway Christian Church of Christ. The Fords moved the church a few times before settling at its location at 4301 Germantown Ave., around 1985. Elrita Ford died in 1990. Bishop Ford Sr. died in 1993. As a way to memorialize the Fords, the congregation changed the name to Ford Memorial Temple.
