Adrienne Getting ‘Real’ about New Look and New Baby

Ever since Adrienne Houghton showed off a slimmer figure to premiere Season 6 of The Real, things have been great. She has a newfound confidence, including when it comes to the clothes she wears.

“I went seasons without showing my arms because that was something I was really self-conscious about,” she she told Hola! “It’s something that I am working on. I would always wear long sleeves. Now, we’re finding really cute things that just cover that one little area of arm-cleavage, and it’s been groundbreaking for my wardrobe.”

The 36-year-old The Real co-host, who recently announced her upcoming Facebook Watch series Wear It Well about finding the right, flattering style for your body type, went vegan earlier this year. She also got back to exercising consistently. Doing so has clearly paid off for her, and helped with her autoimmune disease, Hashimoto’s, but Houghton told Hola! that she didn’t eat clean and shed weight just to fit into sexy clothes and to find some relief. She was actually motivated to get into shape because she was thinking about family planning.

“I knew that wanting to have a baby I want to be in the best shape of my life,” she said. “I really buckled down this summer and just made it happen. I got into a routine of working out, so that the day I’m pregnant, I can continue to be consistent with working out.”

Of course, Houghton has been open since 2017 about wanting to have a child with husband Israel Houghton. It didn’t initially happen as hoped, but she’s not given up faith that it’s going to happen at the right time.

“I’m really enjoying the process of making it! That’s been a good time,” she said earlier this year. “I joked around on my show but obviously there is a realness to the fact that not everybody gets pregnant the first time they try. For me it just hasn’t been that way. We actually started trying in August so I know a lot of people were like, ‘Oh my God.’ I do want to clarify, I don’t have fertility issues. I think it is important [to say that] because that’s a really serious thing, you shouldn’t throw that around. But we do have to be just more sensitive in general. I thought I could try and it would just happen and it didn’t work out that way, but I do believe in God’s timing. I’m in no rush, and we’re enjoying ourselves.”
